Pegarse quedó en el pasado

For months, activists gluing themselves to the streets have been highlighting the shortcomings of our climate policy. However, the actions of the “Last Generation” primarily cause a great deal of frustration. The resulting traffic jams lead to delays on the way to work and turn holidays intended for relaxation into nerve-wracking, stressful events.

For some, these protests cast a negative light on Generations Y and Z. However, we believe that a blanket condemnation is not justified. Many young people rely on creativity and intellect rather than adolescent defiance to solve problems. This is proven by the many brilliant inventions from the winners of this year’s “Jugend forscht” national competition in Bremen. Under the competition’s motto “Make Ideas Big,” more than 100 participants submitted their concepts, ranging from environmental protection to medicine.

For example, three students from various secondary schools in Tuttlingen and Spaichlingen developed a mini-computer for solar systems. This device records the voltages and currents in individual cells and can compensate for losses if individual cells show reduced performance, for instance due to fallen leaves. Future solar systems could become more energy-efficient thanks to this invention and provide us with more green electricity! This is what real creativity looks like—making a difference without any glue or paint bags!

Germany needs such forward-thinkers, because those who “get stuck” will eventually be left behind. The solar calculator serves a growth market in which it can be worthwhile to participate. Solar cells require technology metals such as indium, gallium, and germanium, which private individuals can also invest in. Due to their scarcity, these commodities offer the potential for attractive returns, alongside tax-free purchasing and tax-free profits.
